He has extensive experience in Medical Biotech, Pharmaceutical R&D industry and its operations from Australia, USA, India and the Middle East. His 25+ years of expertise in Protein Bioengineering, Biotherapeutics, Assay Development, Cancer Genomics in Diagnostics & Prognostic Biomarkers, Oncology and Inflammation-New Drug Discovery Research, Cytochrome P450s and Toxicogenomics has resulted in 8 patents and 100+ scientific publications in high impact international journals.
Kulvinder has trained 50+ scientists, mentored 10 PhD students and postdocs in Cancer Research, Qualitative and Quantitative Protein Production in E. Coli, Mammalian Cells, Dictyostelium and Insect Cells. In addition, he has the hands-on quality and regulatory experience in Small-Scale Process Development, Optimisation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), related Bioassays and Transfer of Technology to the manufacturing division for large-scale production.
Kulvinder has a rare blend of academic, industrial research, postgraduate/postdoctoral teaching/mentoring, consulting and senior scientific leadership experience across global markets.
He is equally at ease in driving Biotech start-ups with savvy business development initiatives, building government/industry collaborations & alliances, merger & acquisitions, focused business plans and strategy papers, intellectual property creation, managing labs, leading teams, succession planning, people development (hiring, training & development, mentoring & coaching, etc).
He has industrial experience and multiple research publications/patents in cloning, over-expression and protein purification of multiple (>50) proteins-Kinases, Phosphatases, GPCRs, Receptor Proteins, Growth Factors and developed customised Biochemical Assays to examine the Mode of Action of New Chemical Entities.
In New Drug Discovery Research, he has consistently excelled by working with a senior leadership team comprising Directors, VPs and General managers from Microbiology, Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Quality Control, Toxicology and Medical Affairs & Clinical Research.
Kulvinder is a collaborative, courageous and caring science manager, with proven experience to gain support across various cultures, senior stakeholders and board of directors, resilient to challenges, never-say-die attitude, and have an insatiable desire to continuously learn and apply business knowledge for improving the bottom line of the organisation. He has several years of experience as a biotech researcher and a lifetime’s worth of passion for entrepreneurship.
He has over 25 years of leadership experience and holds several patents and has delivered 38 invited & keynote lectures at international conferences in Australia, China, India, Singapore, South Korea, United Arab Emirates & United Kingdom.
Kulvinder has a doctorate from the University of Sydney, Australia; was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, Case Western Reserve University Medical School, Cleveland, Ohio and Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.
